This old building was once part of a trading post back in the 1930's. It has long since been abandoned but, at least the City of Phoenix has put it on the Historic Register so that what is left will be preserved. Today is the first of the month so that means it's theme day for City Daily Photo bloggers. This month's theme is "abandoned". If you would like to see how bloggers around the world have depicted the theme,

At one time it must have been a sturdy and strong structure. Old trading posts hold a particular fascination because of the history and lore of the area.
ReplyDeleteI would be interested in learning more of its history! We first moved to Phoenix in about 1951, I think, and wonder if it was around then...
ReplyDeleteI like those old stone buildings.
ReplyDeleteIt is good to keep it preserved.
ReplyDeleteI hope they keep it in good condition! Lovely stone work!
ReplyDeleteI bet that was a classy house in its day.
ReplyDeleteGeoff Nicholson, who wrote the novel "Bleeding London" that inspired our RPS photo project, has another book titled "Walking in Ruins" all about the human infatuation with ruined and abandoned places. It's a good book!
ReplyDeletei love this!
ReplyDeleteI've been so bombed at work since we got home that I forgot all about theme day. What with Phoenix's housing market I'd expect this would find a rehabber.
ReplyDeleteHow sad to see this half of a building. At least that much has been saved though!
