Theme Day: My City's Skyline
Getting skyline photos of Phoenix during the very hot summer months is a bit of a challenge. There is a lot of heat distortion in the air and mixed with the inevitable city pollution, most of my shots were bit on the hazy side. This one turned out the best after I had added a bit of contrast to help clear out the haze.
My favorite night time skyline shot is this one from a few years ago. I took it in December when the air was crisp and clear.
On the first of every month, City Daily Photo bloggers post photos based on a theme. The July theme is My City's Skyline. To see how some other bloggers have addressed the theme, click here.
The difference between night and day... dazzling.
ReplyDeleteA big contrast but a very impressive skyline! i love the night time shot!
ReplyDeleteThat's a nice skyline. It's definitely bigger than Tampa's (where I am now). Phoenix is probably a bigger city population-wise, but I'll have to look it up!
ReplyDeleteI kinda like a hazy city skyline - its atmospheric!
ReplyDeleteI think that finding an interesting skyline photo with tall buildings is a challenge, but you met it well! I particularly like the night shot, of course!
ReplyDeletei love both photos...the first has interesting layers, green, city, mountains, all so different!
ReplyDeleteLove both shots Sharon but oh la! the first with the mountains in the background is fabulouso!
ReplyDeleteThe night shot is superb. Phoenix really does have a nice skyline and that shows it off perfectly.
ReplyDeleteBoth are good shots of what Phoenix looks like at different times and dates. There is a spot on the 202 just before the curve heading for I-17 where the city spreads out in a gorgeous panoramic vista, but you can't pull over and you better not slow down to get a picture. I was trying to figure out where you took the first one from.
ReplyDeleteThe buildings look nice framed by the mountains. And your night shot is dazzling.
ReplyDeleteThe night shot is so crystal clear, Sharon! It's nice to see the mountains in the day shot despite the haze!
ReplyDeleteI haven't been to Phoenix in 20 years. I'm sure the skyline has changed since then. At least it has a skyline to photograph!
ReplyDeleteBoth shots are nice Sharon. I think I prefer the night view.
ReplyDeleteBoth fine shots, Sharon.
ReplyDeleteDay and night - both very pretty!
ReplyDeleteSo differently beautiful !
ReplyDeleteI love the night time shot!
ReplyDeleteLove the rhythm you got of the tall buildings and the mountains in the top shot.
ReplyDeleteLooks very exotic with the mountains in the bg :)
ReplyDeleteBirgitta i Budapest
Both look fine to me.
ReplyDeleteLove your city by night. Very snazzy shots!
