Pierson Place and Roosevelt Historic Districts
Pierson Place is a neighborhood dating back to 1934 with homes constructed before WWII. There are a diversity of styles in this area but, most are single family homes of a modest size.
Obviously, this one isn't one of the historic homes. In fact it's quite distinctly modern and sort of stands out among the houses around it.
The Roosevelt neighborhood was the first to be designated a historic district. It was a "streetcar" neighborhood at one time with mostly large California style homes with a few Craftsman bungalows thrown in. This neighborhood surrounds the Japanese Friendship Garden so I've driven through this area many times and I've always admired the fine homes here.
This one has a grand wrap-around porch. To me this looks more like something one would see on the east coast overlooking the Atlantic rather than in California. Maybe that's just me.
Quite diverse.
ReplyDeleteThe third home looks so warmly!
Love houses with a porch, they really do keep the house cool. The more modern style does look a little out of place Sharon :)
ReplyDeleteThe last two are my preferred :)
ReplyDeleteI love both of those top two.
ReplyDeleteIf there's one thing I've learned from your blog, it's that Phoenix has a lot more history than I knew. I always pictured it as a very glassy, modern city, but I love these historic neighborhoods!
That last one is my favourite!
ReplyDeleteI like that last one, too. It looks to me like the banker's home in days gone by.
ReplyDeleteA really nice selection of homes. I like the first one best. Something about those triangular shapes appeals to me.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful selection, but the third is my favorite!
ReplyDeleteRoosevelt is probably my favorite historic neighborhood in the city. I'm thinking the fourth photo may have some historical significance. Is it on Portland Street?
ReplyDeleteGosh, these architectures are so different, I'm surprised I really like the very modern second one!
ReplyDeleteModern always does it for me but I love the porch on that last one - I could sit there for hours!
ReplyDeleteThe architecture is varied. As usual, I really prefer the more traditional home in the first photo, altho the contemporary house is equally interesting,
ReplyDeleteThey are all beautiful! I love the last one!
ReplyDeleteFavourite house: #2.
