Something new for Scottsdale, the first ever Grand Prix race with vintage racing carts. They closed off several streets in Old Town Scottsdale to set up a race track and the sponsored carts plowed through the course.
The event was the brainchild of Andrew Bracanovich and Napoleon Smith III. Bracanovich is co-founder of the Mesa-based Vintage Car Company and Smith is the executive producer of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Smith brought is famous turtles with him and they were certainly a hit with all the youngsters in the crowd.
I enjoyed watching the cars race around the track.
But, someone should tell this guy he shouldn't be watching the movie screen while he's driving.
Looks like a fantastic day!
ReplyDeleteFun for boys of all ages. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI thought they were soapbox cars but they look to have engines in, awesome
ReplyDeleteOh you made me laugh out loud with that last comment Sharon, I was just thinking the same thing :) I'm guessing these old beauties don't travel all THAT fast right?
ReplyDeleteNow that is something I would really enjoy! Those vintage cars are amazing. I hope none of them got banged up. After looking at that last photo I've got to ask: Were any of the drivers texting while driving? :)
ReplyDeleteHow fun! Something really unusual! I do remember the 1989 Formula One race in Phoenix and all the problems due to the effect of the heat on the tires...
ReplyDeleteI love your last picture the most followed by the one of the Ninja Turtles!
That looks like such fun, Sharon!
ReplyDeleteI would really like to see this!
ReplyDeleteYour last photo and caption are priceless :). What a great idea to have an event like this there in your nice weather.
ReplyDeleteWell when they aren't texting, they are watching movie screens!!! I would loooooooove to try this!
ReplyDeleteThat is cool!
ReplyDeleteThese guys know how to have a fun day.
