A short walk to dinner
There are 20 restaurants (I've counted them) within walking distance from my new house and I've been taking advantage of that fact especially now when the weather is nice enough for a walk. Wednesday evening David and I tried a new place that recently reopened with a new look, a new menu and a new name. Previously it was a very small take-out shop where you could get some pretty darn good burritos and tacos. A few months ago, they took over a space next door, closed up the take-out shop and started remodeling. It reopened this week under the new name so we thought it was a good time to give it a try. The name is Mexx 32 (because it's on 32nd street I think) and it now has a full Mexican menu and a full bar.
We were both very impressed with the food. We had smoked pork and smoked chicken enchiladas that were devine and we shared a banana-chocolate flan for dessert that could easily become very addictive. We'll be back!
It's nice to have a good place within walking distance. Unfortunately, there aren't a ton of places around where we live now. But in the summer there's a wine festival and I'm looking forward to that!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a good place to visit!
ReplyDeleteLove that sign!! Looks like it is neon?
ReplyDeleteWhat???? No beverages? Incomplete review! GRIN.
ReplyDeleteMakes my mouth water. But that sign is a bit menacing looking, although I'm somewhat fascinated by it.
ReplyDeleteThat's an eye catching sign!
ReplyDeleteNow this could be a good thing or a bad thing Sharon.. for me who has no will-power it would be a bad thing.. even worse if it was a patisserie :)
ReplyDeletep.s. that sign is kinda mind blowing :)
That could be dangerous to the dieter to live within walking distance of a place like that. Unless walking distance is five miles...then you might burn it off on the way.
ReplyDeleteCatching up on your blog and I see you are really getting out and about. Of course we know what is coming in regards to our weather. This sounds and looks like a great place.
ReplyDeleteCruel. I've only just finished boiled eggs for dinner, lol! :-)Looks like it's a great place!
ReplyDeleteSounds good to me!
ReplyDeleteWho's David? Oh and the new restaurant looks and sounds great.
ReplyDeleteWith a Dia de los Muertos theme? You might want to be careful about the cocktails.
ReplyDeleteI love having restaurants within walking distance, no parking worries, able to enjoy a glass of wine. And 20! you are spoilt.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a good and nice restaurant, but the sign is quite "strange"!
