At the watering hole

While I was at the garden, I spotted this roadrunner skittering up the path ahead of me and when I passed this little fountain, there he was sitting on the edge.  He didn't seem to mind me standing there with camera pointed at him.

But, as he drank he continued to keep his eye on me.  He stayed there until a very loud group came running up the path all shouting "look a roadrunner".  It doesn't seem to occur to some people that noise and quick movements tend to scare off the wildlife.

  1. A comforting view.
And all your bloggers know that you are smart enough to go pretty early at the DBG to be able to see the wild side of it for our delight.

  3. Terrific shots. It's so interesting to see a real roadrunner, and how different it looks from the cartoon version!

  4. The roadrunner, an interesting bird... except that one in your photos, I know only the cartoon version. Is he only running or is he also able to fly?

  7. You do have a way with birds, I think. Great pics of this sweet little critter. Why does this post make me think of Loony Tunes?

  8. When we were at the Grand Canyon last October I spotted a bob cat and was just about to get a picture of him when a woman saw what I was aiming at and screamed "bob cat!" and ran toward it. It was gone in a flash and I didn't get the shot.
At least you got a good picture or two before that happened.

  15. I just knew it. People my age just cannot see a roadrunner without thinking of the cartoon. Beep beep! (Sorry.)

  17. The group should have taken a page from your book, Sharon, remaining quiet and respectful of animals.
