Theme Day: Take Away Store

I had a hard time deciding what "take-away" store I wanted to feature.  There are so many.  I finally decided to picture the one that I frequent the most.  That would be Pei Wei (pronounced pay way).  It's an Asian-style quick meal place that was created by the Phoenix based P F Changs.  The Pei Wei Diner is a spin-off of the much more elegant P F Changs restaurant.  I checked their web site and it appears that they have stores in 24 states and 3 international sites, Mexico City, Kuwait City, and Dubai.

Many times when I've been standing waiting for my order to come up, I've tried to capture of a photo of these guys cooking when the flames are flaring up over their heads.  So far, I just haven't been able to capture it.  You can see a bit of flame around the hand of the cook in the middle.

  2. A busy kitchen as it seems. Lovely interior of the restaurant.

  3. Is "take away" new vernacular for "take out"?

  4. Looked fast. Thought I was looking at a casino. That's 'take away' too.

  5. I've heard of P F Chang, but not this place. I think they ought to build one here in Ocala! I also think if you keep playing with fire you're gonna get your shot! :)

  9. It's increasingly difficult here to get genuine and good Chinese food which is a crying shame...

  10. While I'm not partial to Chinese food, I do like open kitchens. It's fun to watch how fast these chefs can work!

  11. There are P. F. Changs near me in Hartford and Naples. If there were one of these takeout stores, I would go there, too!

  12. It seems odd to me that until this theme I have never heard the phrase "take-away" and thought it was "foreign" yet your post has a large sign with that wording. Where have I been?!

  13. This looks rather nice. I did laugh at your frustration about getting those flames. Know exactly what you mean :). Like the shots you got, just the same!
