This is a new plant at the Desert Botanical Garden that I discovered on my last trip there. It has tiny purple flowers on it and a sign that called it a "Sky Flower" with a Latin name of Duranta erecta. It looks similar to a plant I've seen before that is called a "Sapphire Shower" but these flowers are much smaller than the ones on the shower plant. The lovely purple color with that splash of yellow in the background is perfect for the Easter holiday weekend.
Is there an irony in the Desert Botanical Garden having Easter plants, but the entire DBG is surrounded by a rabbit fence to keep out bunnies.
ReplyDeleteI don't blame them for wanting to keep their plants from being eaten by rabbits, as the gardens would be overrun with rabbits otherwise.
Just beautiful, Sharon!
ReplyDeleteSuch a wonderful colour, it does look familiar to me also Sharon.. Hope you had or are still having an excellent Easter weekend..
ReplyDeleteP.s. It was lovely to see you with Bob, Dave and Julie, how super to catch up with fellow bloggers.
I would love to have one of those. I doubt it would survive our Winter.
ReplyDeleteA very pretty flower. It's a new one to me.
ReplyDeleteLooks like the valley's alternative to lilacs which won't grow well without a freeze. It's very pretty as is it's name. I like the name 'sapphire shower' also.
ReplyDeleteThis beautiful color matched my nail color for Easter.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
