I drive past this gate into an apartment complex often and I always chuckle a bit at the overgrown look of this garden area. Last week I decided to stop an check out just how overgrown it is.
The overgrown area is right up against the fence and the gate but, once you get inside it's a little like a shady oasis. I bet it feels good to relax here especially during the brutal Arizona summers.
Overgrown gardens have always appealed to me. It feels like you might discover a secret.
ReplyDeleteJust catching up on your posts since I got back from Spain. Love memo and the mouse eating the prickly pear.

ReplyDeleteI'd think in Phoenix as here, the more overgrown the more shade and thus more cool and more cool in the summer is a blessing.
ReplyDeleteBut there's always the danger that the plants "overgrow" to the point they make things disappear. We had stuff growing on a gate at our old house that I couldn't kill. I'd cut it down every year and by the summer it was a jungle!
That's a little like mine Sharon, I never did get in there and 'tame' it last weekend. My sister in law who is a poet calls it a 'romantic' garden, sounds better than overgrown :)
ReplyDeleteIt is overgrown, but very tastefully so!
ReplyDeleteI like an overgrown garden. Looks like a nice spot.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a very restful place.
ReplyDeleteA nice cool place for hot summer days.
ReplyDeleteThe garden is beautiful and the residents probably make good use of it.
ReplyDeleteIt makes it nicely secluded and quiet-looking, Sharon!
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, that's so pretty and serene and you've got roses already!!! Or are they bougainvillea?
ReplyDeleteI keep thinking of The Secret Garden - it's like a world unto itself. Shaded, serene and welcoming...so inviting!
ReplyDeleteLove the moose.
ReplyDeleteIt is a nice setting.
ReplyDeleteIf this is the place I think it is, it has been there for well over 40 years and has always been a lush oasis.
