The season of citrus

It's citrus time of year in the southwest.  The commercial trees have been plucked earlier but most home garden trees still have fruit on them.  I don't have any citrus trees in my yard but, I do envy those who can walk outside and gather a few oranges to make some morning juice or grab a grapefruit for breakfast.  I even envy those people with lemon trees who can make any number of wonderful things with the fruit presented to them.   The possibilities are endless.

  1. We do miss our fruit trees for sure! But to know that others can benefit from them is comforting. Most of all I miss making orange marmalade.
I hope you can one way or the other enjoy your friends' ones!

  2. Can't get much fresher juice than popping out into your garden each morning!

  3. We had orange, grapefruit and tangelo trees in our yard when I was a kid -- and then a freeze in the early '80s killed every one of them. So sad! It was great to have all the citrus we could eat.

  4. How vivid and full of life! I remember mango and lychee trees from childhood, but nothing of the citrus variety:)

  6. People in our office bring in extra citrus and leave it in the office kitchen for others to share.

  7. Pretty picture. It's citrus time here, too. At our other house on the east side of Ocala we had several citrus trees, including a grapefruit tree that bore much fruit. We could not eat it all and everyone else in the area had their own trees so I'd put it out in a box on the curb for people to help themselves.

  8. A lovely shot. We don't get them here, of course, but our fruit trees will be quite a few weeks before they even start to blossom.

  9. Beautiful! I remember when we first lived in Phoenix, the overpowering smell of orange blossoms in the air.
