The golf course and the mountain

Continuing with The Golf Club photos that I pictured yesterday, here is a view of the course.  I'm not a golfer so I'm just guessing but, this looks like a pretty tough course to me.  I see lots of places to loose your ball....forever.  I also spotted a couple of things in this photo that I didn't see until it was downloaded on the computer.  In the lower center you can just make out the shape of a rabbit sitting on the edge of the course.  And, to the far left, a little below the half point you see a little grey spot on the course.  I pulled it in and it's some kind of animal running.  It could be a fox or maybe a coyote.  Besides being very pixelated, it was moving so I can only make out a shape.  I love those little surprises.

Here is another shot from inside the golf club gates.  There are lots of southwestern features making this a lot of fun to photograph.

There were also some colorful accents sitting around to make it more interesting.

  1. Lots of irrigation pipes need here.

  2. Nice! Not what you would expect to find in the desert. It's a little oasis.
I see a lot of water being sprayed on that grass in the background. I wonder where it comes from. Don't get me started.

  3. Your comment about finding animals in your photo that you did not see at the time reminds me of some friends of my parents who took a family photo at a park in the hills above Laguna, California. When they developed the picture they saw that a mountain lion was in the bushes eyeing their picnic.

  4. The green of the golf course is a great contrast to the mountain.

  5. Great pics. I couldn't find the running animal but saw the bunny.

  6. We live in a golf course community now and I can see a portion of the course from my back yard. I'm amazed, first, that people play golf throughout the day in this weather; and second, how many of them are really bad golfers. I found a ball in my yard one day and it's w-a-y off the course. My next door neighbor, who is closer, says he has a nice collection of wayward balls that have landed in his yard or his swimming pool.

  7. I would love to play this course, but you're right - it does look difficult because there's not much room for error. I remember playing a lighted course at night in Tempe (back in the early 60s). Once the ball got above the lights you had no idea where it was going unless you heard it hitting the rocks out in the desert! Great fun!

  8. One of the fun things about golf is that it is very different in different parts of the country. Florida doesn't have as many trees, so they make courses difficult by installing water hazards and bunkers. In the northeast, trees and woods are the hazards. But, in the southwest, the courses often feature multiple levels and out of bounds are rocks and sand.

  9. I am always having a hard time when I think of all the water needed for golf courses. On the other hand looking at them brings a lot of freshness mentally.

  11. This looks like a movie setting! And the detail in the smaller pic is fantastic too.

  12. Yeh I love that too, you got a 'birdie' or is it an 'eagle' here haha! I'm not sure why but I thought you would be a golfer Sharon. I see the water sprinklers up ahead there, looks very familiar :)

  13. I like the cart...very Southwest. I have a personal opinion...editorial coming up: because of the Southwest serious water problem, golf courses make no sense.
