Last night was first Friday so my good friend David and I went downtown to visit a couple of galleries. One of them was having a "1000 Cranes" event and this drummer was outside welcoming guests.
He was putting a lot of energy into that welcome.
But, later he came inside and played some more soothing music.
And, here are some of the 1000 cranes that graced the gallery. It was a very entertaining event.
I can see that it was an exciting and entertaining event right from the first moment Sharon, what a brilliant welcome! Wonder if the 1000 Cranes event will come to Perth, it amazes me just how many arty things are coming to Perth these days, so good!
ReplyDeletep.s. I can't think offhand of anything that I would stand looking at as long as this guy did Sharon, he was seriously mesmerized haha!
The dynamism of the drummer is so well captured Sharon as if we were next to him... I can understand why he chose to sit down and play some soothing music later.
ReplyDeleteAnother First Friday for me too.
ReplyDeleteI wish our city or one of the suburbs had an event like this. We always enjoyed them when we vacationed in Mazatlán, México.
ReplyDeleteLooks like he really gets into his work!
ReplyDeleteI wish we had first Friday events here - looks like fun. Some Japanese friends once started doing cranes to give us good luck in a new venture. We ended up with a box of several hundred tiny ones but they didn't make it to the 1000 mark! I still have the cranes.
ReplyDeleteThat may be a little too exciting for this old guy! He is really pounding that drum. I'll bet people in Mesa could hear that!
ReplyDeleteI never missed a First Friday. Love the cranes.
ReplyDeleteGreat action shots at the top, very dynamic!
ReplyDeleteWOW who knew in phoenix we would see this glorious performance and intriguing works. Peace, Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart
ReplyDeleteI love the sound of Asian drums!
