More Tranquility
Many of you have asked where I went in Italy and what I did, so here is a quick synopsis. I went with a very good friend whose nephew is on a two year work assignment in Italy working in the city of Treviso in northern Italy, very near Venice. We decided to make the most of a visit to see him so we flew into Rome and stayed for two days, then on to Florence for two days and then to Siena where her nephew met us. We spent that weekend touring Tuscany and then on to his place in Treviso. He took the following week off from work and acted as a superb tour guide driving us all around northern Italy and of course taking us to Venice. It was a fabulous trip and I know that I've seen places in Italy rarely visited by tourists as well as the most popular places.
The above photo was taken from the water bus as we returned from the island of Burano back to the city of Venice. I'd feel mighty alone out there in that tiny boat!
I'll post some other shots as I make my way through the 2500 pictures I managed to download. I'm afraid no one in Italy would ever recognize me with out a camera in front of my face.
this is a real beauty. i can't wait to see the other gems you pluck out to share with us from your 2500 images. have fun revisiting each moment as you edit.
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a great trip. That photo looks stunning. Will be interested to see more

Spectacular sunset! I am green with envy! Your t rip sounds fabulous and I'm happy that you plan to share it with us. Now that you have been to Venice, you really must read Donna Leon's mysteries. Read them in order (she has written many) so that you can follow the family life of the protagonist. I guarantee that you will enjoy, if not love, her novels (if you haven't already!).
ReplyDeleteGorgeous shot, Sharon! Next time in Italy you have to go south. :-)
ReplyDeleteThis is a fine image and a better memory, I bet.
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a great trip, including making it to Burano, which most people do not do.
ReplyDeleteThis shot is so pretty. That is a nice memory to have of sailing on that water at sunset.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shot Sharon. The light is perfect.
ReplyDeleteFabulous trip Sharon, how nice to have a 'personal' tour guide and get to see the off the tourist track places. Looking so forward to seeing them through your eyes.
ReplyDeleteWow, what a great trip and lucky to have your own guide who new his way around. Beautiful sunset on the water.
ReplyDeleteThat is definitely the perfect way to see a country - the real country!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful - looking forward to more!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like a perfect itinerary. I have been to Florence and Siena and much of Tuscany and the Lakes, but not to Venice or northeastern Italy. I will look forward to seeing and re-seeing some of Italy through your eyes.
ReplyDelete"Just arrived in Venice. Streets full of water. Please advise."
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful opportunity. Can't wait to see some of those 2500 shots.
