The Island of Burano

I was really struck by the beauty of Burano.  The colorful buildings are spectacular and it's so pleasant to walk around the city.

If you love color as much as I do, you need to visit here.

  3. Burano was a fishing village, and they told us that the fishermen would paint their houses with the same paint that they used for the hulls on their fishing boats.

It impressed me that the working class families of Burano lacked the money for the fancy architecture of the pallazzos of the main part of Venice, yet with a little paint they have made relatively simple architecture very appealing.

  9. This would be a plain building if not for the bright paint. The lighting was perfect for capturing the colors and reflection.
