Very, very large ants

These giant ants are part of the "Big Bugs" exhibit at the Desert Botanical Garden that I told you all about two weeks ago.  After I took this shot I wondered if the passengers of that jet could see these creatures crawling down the hill. They might get a little concerned about the bug situation in Arizona.

  4. Sure make that jet look small. Nice one.

  5. I can really tell how huge they are because of how they dwarf the saguaros! How do you move something that large into place without disturbing the vegetation?

  6. Perhaps the Desert Botanical Garden's next art exhibit will be space aliens.

  7. I like the way you've composed this shot Sharon, it really does look like something out of a science fiction movie.

  8. It looks like the setting for an Alfred Hitchcock movie!

  10. It reminds me of an old movie with horrible killer ants - can't remember the title.
I missed that sculpture in Liverpool - only had 1 day there and didn't know about it. There should be a "Rough Guide of Art" series of travel books.

  11. Oh yes, this looks like a horror movie to me! Yikes! But fun too, I think. I like the way you captured the plane in the picture.

  12. I'm concerned about the bug situation in Arizona just looking at this picture. Sure hope they can't reproduce...metal bugs would be hard to kill.

Super shot; great composition! Really gives a sense of scale...and the airplane provides the finishing touch!
