These giant ants are part of the "Big Bugs" exhibit at the Desert Botanical Garden that I told you all about two weeks ago. After I took this shot I wondered if the passengers of that jet could see these creatures crawling down the hill. They might get a little concerned about the bug situation in Arizona.
these ants have reached sci-fi stature.
ReplyDeleteThose passengers have heard of the different types of bugs and vegetation in the desert.
ReplyDeleteThey certainly look like giants.
ReplyDeleteSure make that jet look small. Nice one.
ReplyDeleteI can really tell how huge they are because of how they dwarf the saguaros! How do you move something that large into place without disturbing the vegetation?
ReplyDeletePerhaps the Desert Botanical Garden's next art exhibit will be space aliens.
ReplyDeleteI like the way you've composed this shot Sharon, it really does look like something out of a science fiction movie.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like the setting for an Alfred Hitchcock movie!
ReplyDeleteGreat capture.
That's an interesting question. I am flying out later this month. I'll have to be on the look out for them!
ReplyDeleteIt reminds me of an old movie with horrible killer ants - can't remember the title.
ReplyDeleteI missed that sculpture in Liverpool - only had 1 day there and didn't know about it. There should be a "Rough Guide of Art" series of travel books.
Oh yes, this looks like a horror movie to me! Yikes! But fun too, I think. I like the way you captured the plane in the picture.
ReplyDeleteI'm concerned about the bug situation in Arizona just looking at this picture. Sure hope they can't reproduce...metal bugs would be hard to kill.
ReplyDeleteSuper shot; great composition! Really gives a sense of scale...and the airplane provides the finishing touch!
Great photo. They are a little creepy. I will finally see some of these on Fri. at the plant sale.
ReplyDeleteImpressive shot Sharon!
ReplyDeletePerfect setting for a science fiction movie!
ReplyDeleteA Sci Fi movie?! :-) Fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThis is my favorite one so far.
ReplyDeleteThese are great!
