Sun Flare

When I took this photo in Downtown Phoenix, I was shooting directly into the sun so I thought I'd end up throwing it away but, after looking at it, I think the sun flare is kind of interesting so I'm using it.  This is a new apartment building that has been built to incorporate the walls of a much older building. You can see the older portion on the bottom level.  Interesting concept and design.

  1. I think they've blended old and new very well. I do that now and then too Sharon, shoot directly into the sun I think the effect in your picture is really great, a burst of drama!!

  2. I'm not sure how I feel about the design. Need to look at it a few more times before I make up my mind. It seems like a combination of styles.

  3. I like the design especially the older walls and the letters. I'm curious about the inside. I also find that sun flare a great addition.

  4. If you do not shoot into the sun in Phoenix, you are limiting yourself from a lot of subjects, as the sun shines about 90% of the time.

  5. I'm with Kate on the combo architecture. The backlighting worked well in this photo.

  6. If it means saving the old, then I guess I'm for it. It's amazing the old structure could support the new.

  7. Sometimes a flare like this one adds to the picture. I like it.
I'm glad they used the old part of the building instead of tearing it down. It makes more sense to me.
