Southwestern inspiration

I immediately thought of Georgia O’Keefe when I saw this ram skull on the side of a Scottsdale Art Gallery.  Do you think it would have inspired her to pick up a paintbrush?

  1. Not sure about the paintbrush, but it looks quite.. well, quite scary. :> Thank you for maintaining the blog!

  2. I think with that shadow on the wall, there is no question. This would have been an inspiration for sure.

  4. Georgia O'Keefe was my instant reaction upon seeing your photo. The shadow multiplies the drama of the shape of the skull.

  5. Oh yes this would have inspired her to paint. You captured the details, shadows and eyes extremely well.

  6. With the way the shadow is falling, I would say you took this picture right about noon. It's a beautifully balanced shot. Great job, Sharon!

  8. That was my first thought. I can see her now carrying it through the desert to her home in Abiquiu. I want that one!

  13. The horns and skull are perfect. I have sometimes wondered what came first, Georgia O'Keeffe or the horns. Were they common in the Southwest, so she painted them, or she painted them, so they became popular in the Southwest?
