Papago Park Wildlife
On the same day I took the two previous photos at Papago Park, I also took these two photos of what I think is a green heron. In the above picture, he was just about to leap into the air and fly away but, I followed his flight and found him again on the other side of the lagoon and got a second photo.
I think you are right. That looks like a green heron to me. Nice shots.
ReplyDeleteYou really did catch that moment just before the leap. Fantastic.
ReplyDeleteNice work Sharon, great tracking!
ReplyDeleteI really like the pre-flight shot.
ReplyDeleteWhen you think of Phoenix and birds, you think of roadrunner and cactus wrens, not herons.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photograph! We have green herons in SA too, very similar in appearance.
ReplyDeleteHOW COOL! I think it's a green heron too...and I'm very jealous of your photos! :)
ReplyDeleteNot what you think of in the Phoenix but there he is! Nice shots.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots of the little guy!
ReplyDeleteLovely shots. I'm not familiar with this type of heron but it's a nice-looking bird.
ReplyDeleteThey are a very difficult bird to get close to. Just as you nearly get close they take off. So well done.
ReplyDeleteNow there's a place I keep saying I'm going to visit, too.
ReplyDeleteI have a blue heron that hangs out behind my house and keep trying to get a photo. These are great photos.
ReplyDeleteBoth photos are great and I like the top best with the rippling water and the find details of the bird.
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to believe that that guy that was all bunched up in the first picture is really that tall fellow in the second. You did get just the right moment. :)
ReplyDeleteThe about-to-fly shot is just great! Perfect timing.
