Marching Band

In one section of the Musical Instrument Museum is a display of instruments used in marching bands.  To help set the tone for the display, they had two band uniforms on display.  When I saw this one, I knew I had two take this photo especially for Jack (Hartford Daily Photo).  Have a great weekend everyone.

  2. I wonder how they picked U. Conn. for the uniform. It is a big men's and women's basketball power, but marching bands are associated with football, and I do not remember U. Conn. being in any major football bowl games recently.

Jack's explanation might be, "They never would have thought of including anyone else." You and I each had a shout-out to Jack today.

  3. Look at those feathers!
I've never heard of a musical instrument museum before. How interesting! My dad was quite the musician (piano and organ) and I dabble on the keys a bit too. If I'm ever in the phoenix area, I'll be sure to visit this place!

    Have a great weekend, too!

  10. Hi, Sharon. This sure was a surprise. A UConn band uniform in a Phoenix museum? I think I have the answer. It looks like a pretty recent UConn uniform. They have only been using that "C" in recent years, so far as I can remember. UConn was in Phoenix last January to receive a drubbing from Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl. They have been building a Division 1 football program for a decade, but it was probably too soon for them to be in a BCS bowl game.

  11. Nice tribute to Jack : ) I am also surprised that there is a UConn band uniform in a Phoenix museum, goes to show you never know what will turn up.

Sharon, The Diana exhibit was emotionally moving for anyone who followed her in the publicity, I was one. Her gowns from the 90's were beautiful. I was a wonderful show and was packed the day I attended.
