The Grind
There is a new hamburger place in town and it’s called The Grind. I have to admit when I saw the sign going up I thought it was another coffee house but, no it’s a gourmet hamburger restaurant and judging from the burger I had, they have reason to brag. It was very creative and quite yummy. The restaurant is long and narrow with booths on one side and the long bar you see above on the other.
Your photo is a modern version of Edward Hopper's painting, Nighthawks.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you that I would assume a place named THe Grind is a coffee place rather than a burger place. Or, a place called The Grind could be another type of establishment, especially if the place next door has a name the Bump.
All those bottles look interesting
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a bar to me. Wouldn't imagine they'd serve hamburgers. I like the discreet lighting.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to try it when I come back for a visit!
ReplyDeleteI will have to check this out too. I have to go back in May so I will put it on my list. Re: you post on my blog, I remember Rosarita. We grew up with her.
ReplyDeleteI would have been surprised also by the name. Do they grind their own exotic blends of meats? Looks like fun.
ReplyDeleteThat is a nicely composed photo, Sharon. I don't remember the Hopper painting, but I believe it. The photo does have a Hopperesque kind of feel.
ReplyDeleteA new place to try is always fun. I wonder how it got it's name.
ReplyDeleteTheir sign includes one of those old fashioned meat grinders. The kind my mother had that clamps on to a table and you put a bowl under it to catch the meat after you grind it.
ReplyDeleteLooks like the perfect home away from home!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a good place for a burger and a cold one!
ReplyDeleteThere's been a lot of burger places going up in Tucson too, although not this one.
ReplyDeleteAnd I wonder how many men, when they're late coming home and their wives call, say "I'll be there soon, honey; I'm still at the grind!"?
