Cutler-Plotkin Jewish Heritage Center

This building was built in 1921 and served as the first synagogue in Phoenix. Sometime after 1949 it became a Baptist church. When that church moved, the Arizona Jewish Historical Society restored the building to be used as a museum and cultural center.

  1. There's a parable in there somewhere. :-)

Nice photo. I love night photos when they are done right. This one is perfect!

  4. What a lovely building and beautiful photograph! A very interesting history, too. From Jewish to Baptist back to Jewish again - whee! I don't imagine there were very many Jews in Phoenix in 1921. Where is this building located?

When I was in my teens we lived around 7th Ave and just below Thomas Rd ... I think. Wonder what's there now...

So nice to hear from you, Sharon. Thanks for stopping by Ocala DP!
