Red & Yellow

When I was a young girl, my mother taught me about the correct color combinations. She told me to never wear red and yellow together because they clash. She would have been surprised by these flowers.

  1. Your mother may have neglected to tell you about the combination of yellow and red in these flowers because she was too busy telling you about eating the nasturtiums that you posted a week or two ago.

  2. We can learn a lot about exciting and pleasing color combos by studying flowers.

  3. Well red and yellow do remind of McDonald's :) These are such pretty flowers though. The "clash" gives them character :)

  4. My gardener says red and yellow flowers planted together are just like combining ketchup and mustard. I've always just chalked himi up to his having spent too many hours in the sun without a hat!

Red and yellow certainly don't clash in this bright, cheerful image!

  6. Well, mothers aren't always right, although I never could convince my own mother of that...but, it's also possible that your mother did not have flowers in mind when she told you that, but rather fabrics.

She was probably right about fabrics. Although today one is liable to see anything in terms of color combinations!

  7. I've always liked red and yellow together, in spite of what Mom said. Beautiful picture!

  11. Ah, nature... she's such a rebellious fashionista. (And she wears white after Labor Day, too!)

    This is a glorious shot!
