Is it an Alien Plant?

I saw this king sago palm planted in a very large container at the front door of a store at Biltmore Fashion Park Shopping Center.  I've never seen one sprout a cone like that before so it was looking a bit alien to me.  I had to do some Googling to find out what it was.  That is certainly quite a large bloom or cone or whatever it's called.

An unusual plant, and a very fine snap of it.

We had one of those in our yard at the old house but it finally rotted away and it did not have a white cone or whatever. I don't think it's alien, though. Aliens have three eyes - one in the center of the forehead. But you knew that! :)

Looks like the cone is emerging into the world.
