Chihuly at night

Thursday night I took another stroll through the Desert Botanical Gardens to get some more night shots.  Dave of Tamarindo Costa Rica Daily Photo gave me a tip on how to take good night shots with my Nikon Coolpix camera and it worked beautifully.  Gosh, that Nikon is a versatile little camera.  I didn't limit my clicking to just the Chihulys, I experimented with some other shots too.

All these trees wrapped in lights were another target for my practice.

Dave gave you some good advice, great shots. Top one looks quite sc-fi and spooky!

Good job. Nights with the camera can be tricky.

Glad you continue to use your camera to such good effect.

The reflections of the boat are particularly good. When we were there the water was rippling from a fountain in the pond not too far away.

We were there during a special night that was open only to a few photographers who had paid extra for the privilege. We commented about how the fountain detracted from the reflection shots.

They told us that the agreement with Mr. Chihuly is that they had no operational control over the fountain. The artist controlled everything about how the glass sculptures lopked. That makes sense.

These are great shots. I hope you pass that tip on to others of us someday!

I'm glad you got to try it out. Now you need to play with the museum setting. It works well too.
I like the boat at night.

I like the first one the best - it's surreal and very beautiful and nicely composed.

I have done some exploring with my Nikon Coolpix but the varieties of shots and effects are legion.

This series of pictures is becoming addictive and I think that top one is the best yet.
