Manhole Covers

Remember when I did those home/garden tours back at the beginning of March?  The last house I visited had a yard full of all kinds of interesting objects like the fire-breathing dragon I posted here.  I mentioned back then that I had a lot more photos from that place.  So here are a few more.

The owner had a large collection of manhole covers from different cities around Arizona.  One of docents told us that he has a certificate for the purchase of each of these just in case there was ever a question of how he got them.

The covers were being used like stepping stones in one section of the garden.

I would never have thought of manhole covers as collectors items but I have to admit, they made for interesting garden decorations.

  1. The manhole cover collection is especially fascinating—cool that he even has certificates for them.

  3. One time when I was in Central Park (NYC), I noticed a manhole cover and snapped a photo. After that one, I took lots of photos of the covers in Central Park and on the sidewalks of New York. That is such a cool idea to use them as garden stepping stones.

  4. That IS interesting. I wonder how much they cost? And why would the cities sell them?
