This was one of my first views of beautiful Chicago. We swung across the lake and over the city as we made our way to the airport.
No problems on the flight. We left about 15 minutes late but landed 15 minutes early.
However, that was the end of the good travel karma.
It took over an hour to get our checked luggage. We started our wait at one carousel and then we were asked to move to another carousel where we waited and waited and then were told to go back the other carousel. Finally the correct luggage arrived.
Then there was the taxi ride into the city. I was delayed enough that we hit rush hour traffic. That ride took another 45 minutes. Finally I was greeted by a long line of people waiting to check in.
Enjoy Chicago. A city I would like to visit one day.
ReplyDeleteI've never been to Chicago so look forward to your pics, Sharon.
ReplyDeleteWonderful hotel, I hope you are in one of the older rooms with a view. The CTA Blue Line runs from Clark and Lake to the airport, it is often faster than a taxi.
ReplyDeleteI was going to recommend taking the train, too.
DeleteThat is a fabulous hotel.
ReplyDeleteI am so looking forward to your posts re Chicago!!!
I stayed at the Palmer House (it was the Palmer House Hilton at the time -- not sure if that's still true) about 20 years ago. I don't remember it being that ornate but I've probably just forgotten. Say hello to "Sunday on the Isle of La Grande Jatte"!
ReplyDeleteMy wife lived in the Chicago area back in the 70s. Looing forward to your photos, have fun.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful skyline/lake photo. My daughter was married last September and all the guests stayed at the Palmer House. There is a special Palmer House brownie in the gift shot. Palmer House created the brownie for the 1893 World's Fair.
ReplyDeleteOh how beautiful and you're staying at a nice hotel! Yes, traveling is exhausting which is one reason. I appreciate following you on your journeys! I hope you'll tell us a lot about Chicago and what you see and do and eat there. Aloha honey
ReplyDeleteThat second photo is amazing , I so want to go
ReplyDeleteThe hotel is amazing. Has the dining area ever been used in a film?
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure but I wouldn't be surprised.
