Exhibit Opening

On Friday evening, I went to an exhibit opening at the Western Spirit Museum.  The show that was opening is called "Decades" and it contains the watercolor works of artist William Matthews.

The paintings were wonderful and they spanned many years of work from his beginning in the art world in 1970 through today.

The paintings in the show were sensational and if you've ever tried painting with watercolors, you can appreciate the talent it takes to create these beautiful images.

I love this one with the cowboy on his cell phone.

The artist spent some time traveling the world so the collection included some beautiful images from places other than the southwest of the United States.

Here he is, William Matthews.  He made some brief remarks to the guests and then mingled with the crowd to answer questions and tell stories.

I fully intend to return to the museum to see the paintings one more time.  Going to openings is always fun but seeing the art without crowds is my favorite way to enjoy them.

  1. Yes, amazing to achieve that detail with watercolor. I like his hat, too.

  5. I am of the mind of Steve. An ancient craft along side a modern phone. Wonderful in it's blending of the old and the new.
