Fascinating Sculptures

A week ago, I stopped in at the Shemer Art Center to see the latest exhibit of art.  In addition to the scheduled exhibit, they had a smaller, one-man exhibit of sculptures by Matthew Werner.  The description said his wood-carved sculptures are inspired by the human condition.  They were all incredibly realistic.

This one is called Frankie and Johnny.

This one is called Grand Canyon and depicts tourists taking a "selfie" presumably with the canyon  in the back ground.

The artist is inspired by human traits and emotions like beauty, joy, nobility, strength, compassion and silliness.  He is quoted as saying "What I strive to do is to catch a snapshot of these moments and sculpt them."

He's done an excellent job, I'd say.

This last one is very touching.  It's called Fukushima.
