The Lighted Lantern is a sculpture by James W Muir. It sits in cozy little corner outside a Scottsdale Gallery. I've photographed it at least twice but somehow never posted a photo of it before.
There is a description at the base that reads:
"The pioneer couple having found the courage within themselves to balance the strength of their union, hold aloft the lantern light of hope for a brave new world of truth, justice, and freedom for all...."
It was a way out there, 150 years ago.
ReplyDeleteIt looks nice well made!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure the Native Americans see pioneer couples in that light!
ReplyDeleteJustice, and freedom for all is a challenge.
ReplyDeleteThe world still strives for the same things but it is a struggle for so many to just survive.
ReplyDeleteThey are looking for a better life and believe in their journey to find it.
ReplyDeleteIt seems religious.
ReplyDeleteI really like this.
ReplyDeleteA good piece of elegant antique
