Garden Tour

Last Sunday, I joined my friends for a garden tour sponsored by the Desert Botanical Garden.  There were only two houses on the tour this year but it was still a fun day out.  The first place we visited was a home in north Scottsdale sitting on a little under three acres of land.  The property was once part of a thoroughbred breeding and training facility.  There was quite a lot to see on such a large property.  This little building was called the potting shed and it was certainly the nicest work shed I've seen.

Next door to the potting shed was the chicken coop surrounded by a wonderful food garden and fruit orchard.

The family has fresh eggs to go with the fresh herbs and vegetables growing in this area.  Just behind where I was standing for the above photo was a small orchard with apple and several stone fruit trees.  In another location on the property I saw lemon and orange trees along with a nice olive grove too.

Tomorrow I'll show you some photos from the house itself.  It was a beautiful property with lots to admire.  I was very glad I got to see this place.

Quite an elaborate vegetable garden, the screen enclosure is quite a piece of work.

I could use that garden enclosure to keep the squirrels out of my tomatoes.
