Hummingbird & Prickly-Pear Cactus

Talk about a bad location for photography, this mural is in a very awkward spot.  Consequently, it is partially hidden by a lot of utilitarian items that hide its beauty.   It is in an alley behind a dining and shopping complex in downtown Phoenix.

This one is painted by Jessie Perry, the same artist I featured last week.  I love all that scroll work on the left side of the mural above. It looks like it would be difficult to paint.  The cactus is on the adjacent wall.

Taking part in Monday Murals.

  1. I agree with you about that scroll work, and about it being tricky to photograph.

  2. Murals are always a challenge to photograph. If it's not a car parked in front it's something else... but still, the mural is pulchritudinous.

  3. It is lovely. That is so often a problem with murals being blocked by garbage bins, etc. The beauty of this one shines through though, Sharon.

  4. I think it looks pretty great, even with all the stuff in front of it.

  6. It's too bad all those heaters and burner storage containers had to sit in front of the beautiful mural. Although I was drawn to the bird because it was highlighted, I also was drawn to the scroll work and the lady on the outcropping at the top of the building. It was a nice way to incorporate the entire side of the building.

  7. What a pity this mural didn't get a more prominent location in front of the building rather than the back of it, but it's still a beautiful mural.
Love the scroll work background too. Thanks for participating in Monday Murals Sharon.
