This Mural Has Staying Power

Way back in 2008, I featured a picture of this mural located on the side of restaurant building in downtown Phoenix.  At the time, the restaurant was a Thai place.

Now it's a vegan restaurant.  When the mural was first placed there it was a Cuban Restaurant and since this is a Cuban scene it fit perfectly.  So, the mural has real staying power...the restaurants not so much.

Taking part in Monday Murals.

  1. It is a great painting, looks almost like a real view at the fort and the sea.

  2. The art lasts longer than the restaurants. I'm glad they have kept it.

  4. This may be a very good time to consider becoming a vegan. :-)

  5. A fine mural of this historic Havana fort. While we were in Phoenix missed both this mural and the restaurant, but we did get to visit the fort a few years back.

  7. That IS a good mural. I can see why the subsequent owners have kept it. Too bad they can't sell it to a restaurant in Miami -- they'd make a ton of money!

  8. I like the two carrots that form the letter "V".

  9. Oh that’s funny...Maybe before investing in painting over it...they are going to see if they make it!

I scrolled back to see the blogs I have missed. I see you have some large minus icons where picture are supposed to be. I had that same thing happen last week for the first time. Can’t figure out why? Do you post from an iPad? I have been lately and that is the only change I have made....Can you make sense of it? Janey

  10. Such a detailed mural! I wonder if they somehow transferred it from a photo. We have locations in our town where multiple restaurants have tried and failed, and tried again, different themes but something is wrong.

  12. That is quite the mural. Interesting that the subsequent restaurant owners have kept the mural. Usually it would have been painted over.

  14. Restaurant survival is a tricky business. It's good that the mural has survived...not just being painted over but tagging, too.

  15. Oh I'm glad it survived Sharon, so much work went into it it would be awful if it had been painted over ✨

  16. So gorgeous! I always wonder why restaurants don't succeed...
