What's to Eat?
Yesterday I told you about the "Devour" event at the Desert Botanical Garden. Today I thought I'd show you a few of the tasty treats we tried. Above is a house made brioche stuffed with a shrimp remoulade. Delicious!
From the same booth operated by the Restaurant called Beckett's Table was this dessert. It's a flourless chocolate cake topped with a peanut butter mousse. Of all the desserts I tasted, I think this one was my favorite.
These next three tastes came from Kai Restaurant, Arizona's only Five Star restaurant. I haven't eaten there yet mostly because it is so far away from home. The restaurant is located at the Wild Horse Pass Resort which is on the very southern edge of Phoenix. Above is a cucumber and cactus caviar cocktail. Don't ask me what "cactus caviar" is, I have no idea but this was a deliciously refreshing drink.
This little taste was of some smoked trout sitting on a little pancake-like patty made of locally grown tepary beans.
We finished this tasting with a little cake made from locally grown squash. I believe it was called a tarahumara squash. Whatever it was called , these little morsels were delicious.
In addition to the the mysterious ladies I featured yesterday, there was all kinds of musical entertainment going on in the garden too. All the way from a full band in one spot to this one-man band in another spot. Check out those bells on his shoes.
Very impressive 'amuse bouche' morsels with exotic names and ingredients!
ReplyDeleteThose pictures water my mouth, they all look so very tasty. I would try them all!
ReplyDeletemmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... how sweet it is.
ReplyDeleteOh my! So beautifully presented, I would have happily indulged Sharon ☺
ReplyDeleteNot only does it sound delicious, but it all looks great! Chocolate and peanut butter, as Reese's taught us, are "two great tastes that taste great together." :)
ReplyDeleteOh that looks so good, Sharon! And your pics show everything so well!
ReplyDeleteMy type of outing!!!
ReplyDeleteI would have tasted everything!!
I'd have gone for that chocolate cake!
ReplyDeleteKnowing you, I would have bet you'd enjoy this very much. Me...not so much. First of all, that first stuff has all those foreign words and I don't eat what I can't understand. Secondly, it seems to me that "a flourless chocolate cake" cannot exist in the real world, but the peanut butter mouse looks good but not at all like a mouse. Thirdly, I have a long-standing tradition of never drinking anything green or anything with the word, "caviar" in it. Fourthly, smoked trout? Really. I've never smoked trout and don't intend to start now. If, however, you have some grass, I might give it a try. And finally, I'm going to take your word that a cake made with squash was "delicious." Again, though, "tarahumara"? Really?
ReplyDeleteNice photography, though. I rather like the old character with the red cowboy hat. I don't think I've ever seen a red cowboy hat and if the Lord wills and the creek don't rise, I'll never see another one. :)
I would be happy to try them all too. Your photos are so sweet, Sharon! :)
ReplyDeleteI think you had a tasty day at the Garden. I like the red hat. The bells must be part of the music.
ReplyDeleteTasty!
