Two Flags and a Caboose

There is a house not far from where I live that flies two flags on a flagpole out front.  The top one is of course a U.S. flag and below it the flag of Denmark.  The home is not an embassy or a consulate.  Maybe there is some Danish ancestry being honored here.  It's just a guess.

What is even more interesting to me is the train "caboose" that I see in the home's back yard.  Maybe there is a little railroad history in the family too.

I have a new post on Sharon's Sojourns today.  I'm in the Oregon Wine country.

  1. 'Tis a mystery for sure...the house looks big enough to be an embassy. Can't imagine having a caboose in your yard. Maybe it's a school for Danish kids who want to know how to handle a caboose. I'd like you to get closer and find out for us what's going on without getting your caboose kicked around the block! :) OK?

  2. What a surprise to see a caboose at this location. It looks like it is in very good shape.

  3. That is nice to have in your backyard, something different than a playhouse for the kids.

  4. Gosh if it's a private home it's huge Sharon! Was thinking the same as Marianne above, what a great climby thing for the kids 😊

  5. Not the usual thing to find in a backyard.

  6. I love trains. I happened upon a documentary just the other day that was about the Caboose and how they are not needed any more. They cost money to pull around. Sad to see them go in a way. They spoke of a group who are working hard to preserve them. Then I look here and you have an actual example.
    Nice Sharon, thanks.

  8. It's weird seeing that caboose in back but I bet kids would love to play in it and let their imagination run wild.

  9. Maybe an old railway tycoon lives there with some Danish connection, Sharon. It would be fun to have your own caboose!
