I took a drive out to the far northern reaches of Scottsdale yesterday to see if the desert was showing an spring color yet. There wasn't a lot of blooming activity yet. Just a few hints of what will come can be seen in the yellow tint to those bushes in the foreground and that tiny spec of red to the left. That was from an ocotillo that was just beginning to bloom.
There was also a tiny bit of red showing here from the Baja Fairy Duster plants. They were attracting a few bees who I suppose were also on a quest to find some spring blooms.
We are desperately searching for Spring also! Really cold here & that is inhibiting growth.
ReplyDeleteIt looks warm with the sunshine, but that can be an optical illusion. Here winter has returned with temperatures below zero...
ReplyDeleteLove that last pic, Sharon! It is still cold here but sunny at least!
ReplyDeleteIt will not be long now!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots!
ReplyDeleteSpring remains elusive here, though the sun is having an effect on the snow on slopes that have a lot of southern exposure.
Soon the desert will be awash with colour Sharon! I can't remember, do the cactus bloom in spring or summer?
ReplyDeleteSpring is missing here too. The temps are at 0 with a strong brisk wind. Two years ago it was warm and we were getting our garden ready, not this year. :(
ReplyDeleteDo you need a little rain? We've been very dry and the vegetation shows it. But it's been raining most of the day today and that's going to help a lot. I'll see if I can send some of the wet stuff your way!
ReplyDeleteComing up, coming up... let's be patient. ;-)
ReplyDeleteNice shots, Sharon ! Spring is coming...
ReplyDeleteThe second picture makes up for the wait for flowers.
