Lots and Lots of Kachinas

I mentioned yesterday that I visited the home of a new member of my theatre group and that she is quite the collector of Native American art.  This has got to be one of the biggest collections of Kachinas that I've ever seen.  It rivals the famous Goldwater collection that is now on view at the Heard Museum.

This one was one of my favorites.  It's just so unusual.  I had never seen one like it.

And, I always love the antics of the clown Kachinas and these two were wonderful examples of the humor they represent.

This was another unusual one.  I don't recall his name but, he looks like the keeper of a game of some sort.

This lady has one very amazing collection of these wonderful wood carvings.

I didn't know this, had to look it up what it is for. Had heard from the word but not the meaning of it. She has collected a huge amount of them!

Unbelievable! I thought that I had seen a lot at the Heard Museum! Nothing compared to this.
Can you imagine if these Kachinas could speak.

Goodness, I've never seen anything like this. I'm sure there are several that I would like but I don'g really understand why someone put so much time and money into such a collection. There's nothing wrong with it, but why?

What a marvelous collection she has! I could spend hours looking at these.

I really like them, you could take ages studying the intricacies of each one.

We must also have a sizable portion of the money in the world, too. Has she made plans for them after she passes on?

Quite a collection! I'm glad they're in glass cases -- otherwise I imagine it would be a nightmare to keep dust off them.

Wow! That is impressive as one individual's collection. I have a collection (not these) and I have to figure out how to disperse it.
