Before I went to the Farmer's Market last Saturday, I went for an early morning walk at the Desert Botanical Garden and I was happy to see lots of wildlife activity. This goldfinch was picking the seeds from the center of a yellow flower.
This hummingbird blended in so well with the wet rock he was sitting on that I almost missed him. This is a spot where water flows over a group of rocks and I think this little one was getting a drink.
This woodpecker was attacking a prickly pear fruit.
And this mourning dove stopped at the reflecting pool to get a drink of water.

~(‾▿‾)~ The hummingbird stole the show. It took me few seconds to focus in and see him.
GREAT shots! What a variety of birds! I can seldom get such close-ups. Our birds are more nervous, I guess. :)
All gorgeous wee birds Sharon, you hit the bird jackpot on this visit 😊
That hummer in the water is my favourite, Sharon.
I love the hummingbird's one.
The backyard right outside my window has seen a woodpecker, a hummingbird, a robin or two, many finches, a mockingbird, a Say's phoebe, a pigeon or two and, most often and prominently, mourning doves. Sounds kind of like your Botanical Garden, Sharon.
Busy birds! You got some nice shots.
I love all of these pics but especially the wee hummer, Sharon!
These are all magnificent photos, Sharon. But I agree the hummingbird is extra special. Maybe the army should take note of that bird's camouflage and use what they find in their new uniforms? I read the other day that the US military spent gazillions of dollars on special forest camouflage uniforms for the Afghanistan army. The only problem was there aren't more than a couple of forests (if that) in the whole country. Your tax dollars at work.
Great shots Sharon. Looks like the timing was perfect to get these fantastic close-ups. Mine are always just out of reach and when I do get a close-up, it's blurry.:(
They are some stunning photos
