I caught a glimpse of some murals in an alley near downtown Phoenix so I made a turn into the alley to get a closer look. The walls all along this alley were covered in that combination of graffiti and art work.
This looks more like graffiti to me but, that's probably just my opinion.
This section is a little more artistic.
And a nicely done portrait appears in this section.
I wonder what Cynthia's story was.
ReplyDeleteVery colourful and artistic!
ReplyDeleteI see this here too Sharon, a combination of art and 'artistic' tagging, I wonder if it's a collaborative effort between the two?
ReplyDeleteLots of color on that wall!
ReplyDeleteThe line between mural and tag can sometimes be vague! All these pieces seem quite artistic to me, in use of color and proportion of lettering. I wonder who the portraits are, and the stories behind them?
ReplyDeleteLooks like Cynthia Garcia was 73 when she died. Might simply be a memorial to someone who died of natural causes.
Sometimes the skewed letters can be quite artistic but they aren't my favorites either.
ReplyDeleteVery colourful art, sometimes combined with tag like lettering, they can be hard to decipher. I like them and it was a great find. I was wondering who was Cynthia Garcia.
ReplyDeleteThe Cynthia Garcia one stands out to me.
ReplyDeleteAt first I was taken back to see Cynthia Garcia's dates, but she was not especially young (though only 3 years older than I!) so it is probably a tribute to a mother or grandmother of the artist. Is the whole grouping art or graffiti? Yes.
ReplyDeleteSo much fantastic color! I think these graffiti style murals are ok when they're limited to certain places (and not tagged on private buildings, etc.).
ReplyDeleteThis artwork would be every hard to miss because of the bold colours. I like the images of humans and enjoy the different styles of the portraits and that of the other images.
