I took a walk at the Japanese Friendship Garden this last weekend. I hadn't been there in a long time. I thought I'd see if anything was blooming yet. All I saw was one single daffodil.
There was one little grape hyacinth plant outside the office door, so that and the daffodil were the only things showing any color.
Well, except for a few mallards. They were sporting their famous shiny green.

It's a start.
I'm sure the lonely daffodil will find plenty of friends soon!
I adore purple grape hyacinths!
We have about a billion grape hyacinth plants, but no flowers yet. Ours are holding out for March. :)
In this case it's not about quantity but quality. And your photos are of the highest quality! Thanks for sharing!
Hi again. To answer your question about the Silver Springs entrance: Yes, the entrance has changed very little over the years. We first visited there in 1988 and it's basically the same but you would not recognize much of the park which has changed considerably. It's a shame and I think the state should have kept the boat tours, the petting zoo, the animal kingdom, etc., but all that is gone now. It's still a nice place to walk around but it ain't the same!
I would have expected more blooms but the ones you found were pretty. And the duck too.
The shimmering green of those mallard heads always seems irresistible to photograph!
Fine photo of the daffodil, Sharon.
Well, I like the other two too.
The grape hyacinth are always nice to see and mallards never let you down when looking for color!
The daffodil is so pretty and delicate.
The first flowers of spring are a joy to see Sharon, I bet the next time you visit there will be many more.. marvelous mallard ☺
