One thing I didn't expect to see at the Desert Botanical Garden last Saturday was a cactus blooming. That usually waits until February. However, I spotted not only one but four blooms as I was leaving the garden.
These cacti were putting on a show for all the Chili & Chocolate guests and they were attracting several bees to their sweet centers too.
Fantastic close ups, Sharon!
ReplyDeleteGreat close ups, Sharon, but really unexpected in November...
ReplyDeleteEarly bloomers -- literally!
ReplyDeleteLovely.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful macros. Has it been colder than usual there of late? Or, like you suggest, they were just putting on a show for the visitors. :)
ReplyDeleteCactus blooms are so beautiful! Maybe to make up for their thorns.
ReplyDeleteWhat an unexpected treat Sharon, I love the exotic cactus blooms.
ReplyDeleteQuite a pretty sight!
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice surprise for you (and us too).
ReplyDeleteThey are rebel cacti! ;-)
ReplyDeleteThey appear to be lighted from the inside. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteSuch a wonderful light.
ReplyDeleteI don't know anything about the flowering cycle of cacti. Just the idea that cacti flower still amazes me. Nice shots.
