The Phoenix Mountain Preserve is a park in north Phoenix with some rugged mountains and lots of trails to hike.
I took a drive through the park late one afternoon because I liked the way the sun was lighting up the rocks and cactus.
I even spotted a few hikers up there on those steep trails!
It's a rugged landscape but I bet it makes great hiking!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Steve, rugged but a bit of a challenge, which would appeal to many. These scenes are so Arizona Sharon 😊
ReplyDeleteLooking at these pictures, you wouldn't think that it is in such a huge city. It looks as if you are out in the wilds of Arizona.
ReplyDeleteNow that is a wild rugged park like nothing
ReplyDeleteI'm used to hiking in! Thanks for sharing this Sharon!
Amazing landscape, Sharon.
ReplyDeleteSuch an interesting landscape. Very different from what we're seeing at the moment!
ReplyDeleteLooks familiar. I used to go hiking with a friend (we were in high school) in a terrain much like this back in 1951-52...but I don't recall there being a Preserve there. We did find a gila monster, though; darn thing ran right over my foot. We skeedaddeled out of there fast! [Obviously, I don't know how to spell "skeedaddle."]
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful textures from all the rocks, Sharon!
ReplyDeleteToo steep for me anymore.
ReplyDeleteIt is gorgeous Sharon. I wouldn't be able to hike it, but I would enjoy the drive.
ReplyDeleteWonderful textures from these rugged mountains, Sharon.
ReplyDeleteMy preferred pic is the first one with that beautiful cactus.
A very craggy landscape.
