A Happy Lion

I found this happy lion guarding the entrance to a home decor store in Scottsdale last weekend.  I thought he looked like he had a sort of Mona Lisa smile going on.  He looks like he might welcome a pat on the head.

His partner on the the other side of the door was a little less eager to show his cheerful side.  His stare might cause a bit more of a concern.  I think a pat on the head for this one might not be wise.

  3. I often wonder how the practice of using lions at entry ways began. . .perhaps China? These two certainly are memorable.

  4. It's funny how we give personality traits to inanimate objects. But I definitely agree with you! One looks friendly, the other fierce. :)

  5. They are either old or made to look that way. Kind of cute.

  6. I saw a photo of the two lions in front of the Chicago Art Museum the other day. Each of them had a huge Cubs hat on!

  7. I'm thinking the one of the left has more of an ironic or sardonic look...but the one on the right certainly does seem a bit irritated. I generally don't pat stone lions on the head, though, so I'm probably going to be OK.

Re the car: There's a meter in front (which you can't see) and the owner of the car must have forgotten that meters, like children, need to be fed every so often.

  11. They're playing good cop bad cop Sharon .๐Ÿ˜€ I do love the serene smile on the good lion! I'm so happy that you enjoyed your Aussie train trip ๐Ÿ˜Š I believe the trip from Perth across the Nullabor is supposed to be the 'qintessential' Australian outback experience, somehow all that red earth doesn't excite me although P would love to do the trip. Mind you if my fear of flying gets any worse it might be the only way to get to Sydney to see my grandchildren ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€
