America's Best.....what?

If I hadn't seen this sign hanging in the Ladies room at the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts, I would never have known that there was a judging system and award for restrooms in America.  Apparently, there is and here's a link to the site to prove it.

It is a nice looking ladies room with some panels the change to soft colors to take the edge of the stark stainless steel.

I'll assume that the gents is just as nice but, I didm't check it out just to make sure.  I'm going to have to take a closer look at restroom design from now on.  You never know, I might find one that got top billing!

  2. Haha! I love it when I come across a stylish ladies room Sharon, this one is very pretty in pink. My favourite, so far, here in Perth is the ladies at the Indiana tearooms in Cottesloe :)

  3. LOL -- that's hilarious. Some people put great store in restroom quality. When I lived in New York my boss used to gauge the quality of restaurants partly by how nice the bathrooms were! If I ever mentioned going to a fancy restaurant, she'd say, "Oh, they have a GREAT bathroom."

  4. I wonder what the criteria are. In Europe, the doors and walls have to go all the way down. People here don't like American toilets as they aren't private enough.

  5. Why not? The first thing I do when I go into a "new" restaurant is check out the restrooms. If that's a mess I go elsewhere.

The problem with this judging thing is that you have to keep up every year. I mean this place won was a finalist in 2011. What have they done lately? Have they gone downhill. Why didn't they win every year since. It's a conundrum and a puzzle and I can't figure it out. :))

It doth appear rather snazzy, though.

  6. That's a thing to judge? It's quite colourful, anyway.

  8. In spite of widespread misconceptions, Thomas Crapper did NOT invent the flush toilet. However the London plumber did much to popularize the device. I bet he'd just glow pink with pride at seeing this place.
