Casablanca.....

....Not the city in Morocco but, the cocktail lounge in Scottsdale.

I've never been to this upstairs cocktail lounge but I hear there is a great view from the rooftop bar.  They are located in an ideal spot on the Scottsdale Waterfront and just a block away from Scottsdale Fashion Square.

Added:  A reader asked that I define Scottsdale Waterfront.  There is a canal that runs through the area near Camelback Road and Scottsdale Road.  That area has been used as a center point for shopping and dining in the area with lots of activities happening along the canal.  It's called the Scottsdale Waterfront.

  1. Now you have started something. I can't get Humphrey Bogart out of my mind.

  6. That looks like a great place. But how things have changed. That canal is an irrigation canal, I believe. And in the early 60s, the northwest corner of Camelback and Scottsdale Rd was a large grape growing operation. You could buy bagged grapes for 10 cents a pound and pick you own for 5 cents a pound. And they were superb!

  7. Scottsdale Waterfront is an oxymoron. But might there be a Café Américain down the street?

  8. It just occurred to me that there may be some subtle humor in the name of the bar. In the movie Casablanca, Lieutenant Renault (Claude Rains) asks Rick (Humphrey Bogart) why he came to that town. "For the waters," Rick says. "But Monsieur" Renault replies, "there are no waters. We are in the desert." "I was misinformed," says Rick.
