Thousands of compact discs make up a river of sparkles in this exhibit at the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art. The piece is called Ferryman's Crossing and it is also by Bruce Munro, the artist who has the light exhibit at the Desert Botanical Garden.
The CD's are laid out in a wave like pattern and pulses of light are flashed onto their surface making it look like sunshine on rippling water. The added sound of water flowing and bubbling makes the effect complete. It has a very calming effect just like sitting on a beach or a river's edge.
Now that is different and quite impressive.
ReplyDeleteMunro appears to be both an imaginative and busy artist.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I like the photo #1.
ReplyDeleteI really do love the way the artistic mind works, this is so fab Sharon, must have been incredible to see, especially with the accompanying soundtrack.. Monsieur Munro is tres imaginative!
ReplyDeleteIt is really appalling what passes for art nowadays... Nice photos, by the way!
ReplyDeleteI was going to ask what's the point but I guess it would be to provide a soothing and calming experience. To each his/her own. :)
ReplyDeleteThe first photo is quite impressive, I like it !
ReplyDeleteWhat a creative use of old CDs. Love this!
ReplyDeleteThough I wouldn't necessarily call this art, I absolutely adore it!!! It's also very photogenic!
ReplyDeleteI do hope that they are all old CDs but I quite like the effect. Is it art - who knows? ;-)
ReplyDeleteVery pretty and clever too!
ReplyDeleteQuite a cool installation!
ReplyDeleteOhhhhh, I'm dizzy!
ReplyDeleteThat's cool! I'm glad someone found a way to make something beautiful out of discarded CDs. :)
ReplyDeleteEven someone with tastes as traditional as mine loves it! Very clever.
ReplyDeleteWell I guess you have to use CDs for something these days.
