This Allan Houser bronze sculpture sits at the entrance to the Phoenician Resort just past the guard station. The resort has a huge art collection and I've featured pieces from the collection in the past. Somehow I never got around to posting this one.
I have a new post
Sharon's Sojourns today. One random photo taken on a road trip leads to an interesting bit of history.
The flowers in the foreground sets them off perfectly!
ReplyDeleteThis sculpture has a touch of 'Nativity' to it don't you think Sharon?
ReplyDeleteNice! It is definitely a take on the Nativity, I think. You've posted other works by this sculptor before, haven't you?
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful and tender family scene. You know, I think, how much I love Houser!!
ReplyDelete...a proud mom and dad.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely setting, Sharon! It reminded me of the Nativity too.
ReplyDeleteAh... you know how much I love his works...
ReplyDeleteAn amazing sculpture!
ReplyDeleteI love this sculpture.
ReplyDeleteThe male looks like he's thinking "why did we give up our land so easily?"
ReplyDeleteI like this grouping. It has much more detail than most Houser sculptures I have seen.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite sculptor!
ReplyDeleteIt's a beautiful sculpture and I absolutely love it. However, I wish it could sit in a more realistic environment for the Apache. They just don't seem to be at home under palm trees!
ReplyDeleteThe Holy Family in Chiricahua Apache style?
ReplyDeleteIt's quite a sculpture... I do think some of the same as Kathy... perhaps in a different setting?
