Off to Market

Yesterday I realized that I hadn't been to the Farmer's Market since I moved.  It's a lot further away so I hadn't thought about it I guess.  I decided to head over there and see what I could find.  I'm always on the hunt for some good tomatoes which given today's crops, is very hard to find.  I did find some and the one I had for lunch was pretty darn good.  Not as good as the ones I had growing up but, still good.

There was a new vender there, the Jerusalem Bakery and their products were going fast so I stopped and bought a chocolate croissant that was delicious and a box of date cookies that I haven't tried yet.  They were doing a brisk business.  They had a sign out for a type of Mediterranean bread that said it was an ancient recipe but they were all out.  I think I'll have to go back and try that.  It sounds interesting.

And, this fellow was playing a mean jazz guitar.    His music filled the market place made me want to pull up a chair for a while.

I was a little late posting it but, I do have a new post on Sharon's Sojourns today.  It's a peek at an alternative energy source.

  2. Can't hardly find a good tomato nowhere these days! Not like the ones in Minnesota in the summer time! I'd love this place, though. Are those long hair braids hanging down behind the jazz guitarist? He could tdrip over them!

  3. I'm a tomato addict. Ours are just coming on the market due to our heavy spring rains. Our local farmers had some of the best tomatoes I ever ate last year. I hope we have the same luck this season. I love the Phoenix markets. Although we have wonderful veggies here in East Texas, the small-town and rural markets don't offer too much more. I'm getting anxious about my return to Phoenix to savor the variety that the city has.

    Now those are some dreadlocks!

  6. I was sorely disappointed the last time I got a tomato at our farmers market. I think they got them at Costco and resold them at the market.
    That guitarist has got STYLE!

  11. Yeah. What has happened to tomatoes? I hear people everywhere complaining that they aren't as flavorful any more.
