Micro-Dwellings

I'm not quite sure how I completely forgot about these photos I took back in February but, needless to say I did forget them.  This was from the Shemer Art Gallery's annual micro-dwelling display.  Visitors get to tour these tiny living and working spaces and try to contemplate how they could live in such a small space.

I thought this one was interesting with it's colorful plastic cubes.  They were translucent so you could see lots of colorful light inside when the sun hit them.

This one was divided into two sections, kitchen facility on one side and sleeping facility on the other with an open air living space in between.  It's always interesting to look at these tiny homes. Down-sizing is good but, these are very, very small.  I think they might be a little too small for me.  Where would I put my 6 remaining sets of china?  (I got rid of four sets when I moved.  Yes I know, crazy!)

  1. We live in quite a small cottage, but these are tiny! However, I'm sure they are perfectly habitable... just have to live 100% clutter free.

  2. Gosh you would definitely have to scale down on the china if you even thought about one of these Sharon :) these micros would make fantastic 'get away' homes, built out in the country or by the coast don't you think?

  3. I would love to tour these spaces. I, too, don't know how I could manage in a space that small, but, of course, it is possible. I'd love to have one of those as a lake place in Minnesota. It would be such a lovely retreat!!

  4. I'm still having trouble downsizing from my three bedroom house (with basement storage) to a two bedroom apartment. I'm pretty sure this wouldn't work for me. But I admire people who can live this way.

  5. HG-TV has done some programs on these tiny homes. They're not for me. I like big houses with lots of rooms and nook and crannies!

  6. They look cute but I have too much stuff! ;-))

  7. There's no way that would work for me! They do look neat though.

  8. An alternative solution. A get away place... These look fantastic and fascinating but you are right where would we put the objects we are used to live with? Moving is always painful for the things we have to leave behind us one way of the other.

  9. They really are cute...and small. Probably not as small as our vacation home though?

  10. That would be great to see. I like the last one.

  11. I love the idea of a micro-house, and I think I could probably live in one if I were still single. (After all, my apartment in New York basically WAS a micro-house, albeit on the third floor!) That second one is fantastic. The inside must be a real explosion of color on a sunny day.

  12. These are conceptually interesting, but, I'm sorry, there is no hope for me.
