This eagle helps guard the doors into the old Phoenix City Hall.
City Hall has moved across the street from this building but, the eagles are still there guarding the door.
This building its still an official government building. It houses the county courthouse but, this side entrance still bears the "City Hall" name.
A really stunning building. Love that entrance.

I like his craggy, rough-hewn look!
ReplyDeleteBeen watching the eagle cam in Decorah, Iowa.
ReplyDeleteCheck out Decorah Eagles.
Warning: Addictive as anything. Also into the owl family (on owl cam) in Skidaway, GA. Just Amazing.
What a gorgeous building, Sharon! I love the colour.
ReplyDeleteI have always loved that old building! Glad you are posting it again.
ReplyDeleteQuite an impressive entrance!
ReplyDeleteSpectacular!
ReplyDeleteGosh that is an amazing facade Sharon, the Eagles beautifully carved, your first shot is tops.
ReplyDeleteWow. I would really be impressed walking in there!
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful old building. Up close the eagles almost look like wood carvings!
ReplyDeleteIn a letter to his daughter, Benjamin Franklin said, "For my own part I wish the Bald Eagle had not been chosen the Representative of our Country. He is a Bird of bad moral Character. He does not get his Living honestly." I certainly am glad that his choice of a wild turnkey did not prevail. I much prefer the eagle as shown in your photo.
ReplyDeletenot "turnkey" but turkey!!
ReplyDeleteStill beautiful.
ReplyDeleteBut shouldn't Phoenix have, um, a phoenix rather than an eagle?
ReplyDeleteVery interesting, Sharon. I thought it was carved wood. I like the style.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting while I was away and unable to look at other blogs.
