Rain, lots of rain

Tuesday morning brought lots of rain to Phoenix and it continued throughout the day.  It was great to see it come down.  The only drawback is that so many valley residents have no idea how to drive in rain.  I saw lots of skidding and sliding that was really unnecessary.  I guess it pays to learn to drive where rain happens quite a lot.

Update:  I heard this morning that some pretty severe flooding happened north of Phoenix.  There was flooding, mudslides, rockslides and Interstate 17 coming into Phoenix had to be closed for a time while the road was cleared.  They got quite a bit more rain than we did in the central part of the city.

  2. We are also having rain today. But it's a nice change here and the flora is enjoying it as well.

  4. I saw it on the news yesterday. Seems like every time it rains there is flooding somewhere in the valley and some fool drives into the water.

  5. I was always grateful that I learned to drive in the winter and mastered snow and ice with an instructor in the car.

  6. I think you may be having a lot more than we are by the sound of it Sharon. I agree about the driving, it always amazes me when people drive as fast as they do on a clear day not taking into consideration the possibility of having to stop fast.. I would be soooo mad if anyone bumped into the back of my car :)

  7. It does look torrential. I imagine the rain's needed anyway there.

  8. That was quite the storm! At one point the clouds were so thick and I had to turn on my lights inside. Pretty neat!

  9. Ouch, flooding and landslides aren't good even if rain is needed... I just wish we could send you some of ours, we've had so much of it over the past 2 years!

  10. It seems funny to me that people don't know how to drive in rain. Guess we take that for granted when we don't live in a desert. :)

  14. I saw the footage on national news about the flooding "in Phoenix." I'm glad to know my family and friends in the central part of the city didn't experience any of that.

  15. If they respond this way to rain, can you imagine how the drivers would be in ice and snow?
